The Word of the Lord for the Church 2014…”Purity and Perfection in the Hands of God’s Grace

I felt the Lord said to use the Hebrew year as the prophetic timing of what He is doing in His Church (we Christians, followers of Jesus, are the Church).  Notice how the 5s cup the 7s.  The number 5 represents God’s grace, unfortunately many churches, ministers and believers have swung the pendulum on God’s grace way off the plumb-line, people do what they feel is right in their own eyes, thinking that it doesn’t really matter, God’s grace covers up for our shortcomings they say, when really they mean, their sin that they love, their idol, they want to hang on to it, cause God isn’t really looking at it.

Romans 6:1-4 calls us to be dead to sin and alive to God. “What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin so that grace may increase? May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it? Or do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, so that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life.”

We are firmly held in God’s hands of Grace, but don’t let His Grace become a licence for sin, that’s like slapping God in the face, how dare we do that. We need a heart rooted in the fear of the Lord to bring wisdom to our walk with the Lord. That fear is a reverend awe of His love, power to save, heal forgive and judge. Don’t get off balance and only look at the blessings, for indeed there is cursing for disobedience which we are not exempt from if we choose to disobey Him. You may not experience a curse right away, so you think God approves, another one of the Devil’s lies, sin has a way of catching up with you, maybe not today or tomorrow, but it will in time and it will bring a curse with it. Don’t get off balance. The truth is that the purpose of God’s Grace is to empower us to live a life without sin. If it were not so, then Jesus wouldn’t have said to the Samaritan woman at the well, “go and sin no more”. Jesus is our advocate in 1 John 2:1  “My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And IF anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous”. The Bible clearly says, “IF” you sin, not WHEN you sin. We need to get rid of our excuses today, you don’t sin because of your mother, father, sister, brother, spouse, neighbour, or whoever else made you place blame on saying they made you feel this way (angry, depressed, rejected) or they made you…NO ONE can make you anything, that is totally the flesh, projecting our sin on someone else is just yielding to a lie, we need to yield to the Spirit in every one of those irritating situations, bless your enemy, curse not, that is all a part of walking in the Spirit.

It’s never about what you do for Him that matters, it is always about who you ARE in Him. You can do a lot of good things that are not God things, the only thing that really matters is your heart yielded to Him.

Gal. 5 teaches us about Living in the Spirit, that is what God is calling us to do in this year, to a greater level then every before. It is an outright lie of the enemy that we must yield to the flesh. The Word of God says, “Now the deeds of the flesh are evident, which are: immorality, impurity, sensuality, idolatry, sorcery, enmities, strife, jealousy, outbursts of anger, disputes, dissensions, factions, envying, drunkenness, carousing, and things like these, of which I forewarn you, just as I have forewarned you, that those who practice such things will not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law. Now those who belong to Christ Jesus have crucified the flesh with its passions and desires. If we live by the Spirit, let us also walk by the Spirit”. It is us that must put to death the deeds of our flesh, it was already done at Calvary; we simply need to walk it out. The bars of our prison have been removed, just walk out by focusing on Jesus, it is true you can walk free from every weight, every bondage to self, sin, or Satan.

That is the message of Grace and this year we are held in His hands of Grace with an emphasis on completion.  The complete work of the cross must be manifest in our life this year, and that comes through continual obedience, a 24/7 whole hearted obedience to our Lord Jesus Christ.  Get rid of the other lords in your life now, before it’s too late. It’s time for purity. He is calling us to purity of heart.  I always wondered about that; my name, Cathy means pure in heart, I’ve always wanted that purity but I’ve always fallen short.  Romans 3 talks about all have sinned and come short of the Glory of God, that is exactly why Jesus came to pay the price of our sin so that we can by faith, which takes obedience to His Spirit live without sin. It is our faith with obedience that justifies us, not faith alone, for even the devil believes and trembles for he knows his certain judgement. We don’t have that judgement IF we abide in Him, if we walk in the Spirit and not in the Flesh. You may not agree, and if you don’t then I hope the best for you, but just reason with me for a moment, if what I say is true, would it not be best to obey, even if judgement were not the issue, freedom from sin certainly would be a benefit, and you couldn’t go wrong with siding with God’s Spirit. Just a thought!

Last year as I sat on a rock by the lake with the Lord in my early morning devotion, I received a powerful revelation from the Lord of His Love and how it’s that love that holds everything together. Recently I had another powerful God encounter and understood, really understood His Glory. So magnificent, so great, that man could never attain, but we don’t need to, we already have been given it by Jesus, we can walk in His glory, but not with sin in our hearts. You might be saved, so as by fire 1Cor.  3:15 refers to our works being great, maybe even miracles performed, maybe many people saved or delivered, or healed through our ministry, maybe great wealth, it could even be that thousands or millions look at you and think you are so godly, yet you know that deep in your heart there is a seed of sin, a desire that you want, or sneak, just a little.  I can assure you that God is not impressed, He is not pleased, and in the end of the story, you may still make it into heaven, but that’s all, the works will be burnt off. Beware of those little seeds in your heart, for given the conditions to grow they will take root, corrupt your soul and eventually strangle your spirit-man.

Today is the day of salvation, that’s the fullness of salvation, that’s the joy of obedience, that’s the walk with God that takes your daily life continually into a new dimension, a new dimension that radiates His Glory to those around you.  That is what I long for, that is what I press towards, that is why I listen and obey God’s Spirit.  I want to live out my name, “pure in heart”, for in the purity of heart is the Glory of God. “The pure in heart will see God” Mt. 5:8. Can you just picture yourself, like Peter, walking down the street and people bringing their sick and those afflicted with unclean spirits out so that you’re shadow would even bring healing to them. Just like the Glory cloud that led the children of Israel by day or the pillar of fire by night, we are to be vessels of His Glory, not so that we look good to others, perhaps no one will ever notice us, which is a good thing, if they don’t that protects us from pride, yet we can manifest His presence everywhere we go and He who is the Righteous One will reward us in ways that no one else will understand.

One of the greatest treasures that we can be given on this earth is to ponder within our hearts secrets that the Lord has shown us, sometimes he whispers His love to us and asks us to just ponder that in our hearts, like Mary the mother of Jesus who knew she was carrying the saviour of the world and yet she kept that to herself.  What an honor to be entrusted by God to keep something within our hearts and minds that He has shared with us alone, we don’t need to blab everything, only what God says to speak when He says to speak it. It’s out of the abundance of our hearts that our mouth speaks, not those secrets that He’s entrusted with us for a purpose, but the Life, Love and humility within us that will bring healing and deliverance to others and bring Glory to God. We were made to bring Him Glory in every thought, every emotion, every behaviour, every habit and in our character. As you’ve noticed that is how character is formed, from our thoughts which lead to our emotions, which lead to our behaviours, then those behaviours become our habits and our habits our character.  It’s time to put on the mind of Christ by renewing our mind by the washing of the water of the Word.  We will become what we think about, set your mind above not on the things of this earth. The Bible talks a lot about our thought life what we should and shouldn’t think about because what we think about will enter our hearts and either corrupt it, or purify it.

If you truly want to win the lost to the Lord, then live a life that is genuine, pure, holy and set apart for God alone. Like the famous quote, often attributed to St. Francis of Assissi “Preach the gospel at all times, if necessary use words”. Although the Bible clearly says that we should use words and compel them come, but let the abundance of the heart speak, let those words flow out of a heart that is pure, set apart for Him and so overflowing with His love that there is nothing else that could possibly come out of your mouth. James 3:10, Don’t let both blessing and cursing come out of the same mouth. The intention of this verse is to direct us to have a pure heart so that there is only Life coming out because that is what is inside. This year is a year of purity of heart, of sanctification, dying to our old ways and filling up with God’s Glory.  Let our Lights shine with plenty of oil in our lamps.

Ephesians 4: 17-32 clearly explains how we are to walk in purity of heart as Christians so that we can manifest His Glory. “So this I say, and affirm together with the Lord, that you walk no longer just as the Gentiles also walk, in the futility of their mind, being darkened in their understanding, excluded from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the hardness of their heart; and they, having become callous, have given themselves over to sensuality for the practice of every kind of impurity with greediness. But you did not learn Christ in this way, if indeed you have heard Him and have been taught in Him, just as truth is in Jesus, that, in reference to your former manner of life, you lay aside the old self, which is being corrupted in accordance with the lusts of deceit, and that you be renewed in the spirit of your mind, and put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.

Therefore, laying aside falsehood, speak truth each one of you with his neighbor, for we are members of one another. Be angry and yet do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger, and do not give the devil an opportunity. He who steals must steal no longer; but rather he must labor, performing with his own hands what is good, so that he will have something to share with one who has need. Let no unwholesome word proceed from your mouth, but only such a word as is good for edification according to the need of the moment, so that it will give grace to those who hear. Do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption. Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.

The year 5775 has an emphasis on the number 7. When you see a number or word repeated it is simply an emphasis of the meaning of it. Let’s look at the number 7. The words of the LORD are pure words: as silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. Psalm 12:6

And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made. And God blessed the seventh day, and sanctified it: because that in it he had rested from all his work which God created and made. Gen. 2:2

The number 7 has symbolized completion throughout the Bible from the Genesis to Revelation.

In Revelation when the voice of the seventh angel, when he shall begin to sound, the mystery of God should be finished. The word translated as finished is the Greek teléo, which generally means to bring to a close, to complete, to end, to fulfill. This word appears again in Revelation 15:1 which states the reason for seven angels with seven plagues: “And I saw another sign in heaven, great and marvelous, seven angels having the seven last plagues; because in them is filled up (teléo) the wrath of God”.

This verse displays a double emphasis on temporal consummation; the word translated as last is eschatos, from there we get the word eschatology, the study of the end times. The year 5775 has a double emphasis on this world coming to an end cradled in God’s Grace. With that comes many mysteries of God, through signs in heaven, and plagues on earth. Don’t misinterpret me, I did not say that the world is ending this year, I simply said that we are heading towards completion and that this year is in God’s hands of grace.

We will see many signs in the heavens and earth, simply birth pangs for the coming of the Lord is soon and there will be a new heaven and new earth one day, there is just a greater intensity in birth pangs that we will see throughout the earth. Luke 21: 11 “Nation will rise against nation and kingdom against kingdom, and there will be great earthquakes, and in various places plagues and famines; and there will be terrors and great signs from heaven. “But before all these things, they will lay their hands on you and will persecute you, delivering you to the synagogues and prisons, bringing you before kings and governors for My name’s sake. “It will lead to an opportunity for your testimony. “So make up your minds not to prepare beforehand to defend yourselves; for I will give you utterance and wisdom which none of your opponents will be able to resist or refute. “But you will be betrayed even by parents and brothers and relatives and friends, and they will put some of you to death, and you will be hated by all because of My name. “Yet not a hair of your head will perish. “By your endurance you will gain your lives. 25.There will be signs in sun and moon and stars, and on the earth dismay among nations, in perplexity at the roaring of the sea and the waves, men fainting from fear and the expectation of the things which are coming upon the world; for the powers of the heavens will be shaken”

It goes on to say to not be weighted down with the things of this world, but to remain in prayer, that’s just talking with God, listening and obeying 24/7, simply walking with Him. All this we must do because very soon, Jesus is coming back for His church and we must be a bride who is ready, one without spot or wrinkle, that means no sin, not on the outside, the wrinkle, or a spot in our hearts. Today is the day to recommit, to re-ignite the flame and passion for our Lord Jesus Christ. Today is the day of salvation, the saving of the soul (mind, will, emotions) from sin (separation from God) and the consequences of sin so that we can walk free from every form of sin here and now and be the Life and Light of Jesus to those around us…if necessary use words.

Do not be afraid of what you may go through, material goods may be lost, even bodily affliction, but no one can steal the Life and Light within you, it is a gift and it is eternal.  Let your purity of heart shine Light as Jesus did, even while on the cross (the cross that you must bear), even to the point of death…let your Light Shine!

The Number 7 is the numerical symbol of Fullness, Completion, and Perfection. God is bringing His people into fullness of His Spirit completing the good and perfect work in our hearts in this hour. He is maturing His bride to bring her into her fullness, maturity, ready to meet her groom in the final hour and then we will forever be with Him.

When we walk in the fear of the Lord we keep that emphasis on the number 7 which is the symbol of fullness, completion and perfection. There is a coming judgement, and in the fear of the Lord we walk in purity of heart before Him demonstrating our faith in God, through His love, His power, and His Glory.

What the Lord is saying for this year is to examine our hearts before Him, let Him shine His Light, the Light of His Word in the areas that we’ve covered with our perception of His grace which was our excuse to hold on to our secret sins and idols. This is a year that He is calling His church to perfection…in Him. Where we get confused is that we think that we do it, we perfect ourselves…we don’t. Perfection is already done, by Jesus on the cross. He already bought our freedom, we simply need to know it and walk in it. We don’t need to yield to our anger, depression, self-centredness, addiction, overindulgence or whatever God shines His Light on in your heart anymore…we have already been set free from it. We simply need to walk in it, and make His choices repeatedly, the more we do the sooner our flesh will no longer be a battle. What you got away with last year, you can’t get away with this year. The Lord is talking to those who make excuses for and who forgive their own sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God. (Gal 5:19-21). He is calling us to be sold out, radical, all in Christians, no longer yielding to the flesh but with every irritant in this life, like when you get cut off in traffic, your spouse says something you don’t like, your neighbor let their dog dodo on your lawn, the neighbour plays loud music at all hours, the mobile phone company made another error on your bill, boss didn’t do what you thought he should, you were falsely accused, rejected by someone you love etc. Regardless of the irritant, we are responsible for our reaction, for our thoughts, emotions, own behaviour, habits, our own character and our own destiny.  This year God is calling us to react every time in the Spirit not in the Flesh. Everytime that we make a Spirit response (Gal 5:22-23) we reinforce God’s rule and grow fruit in our life, everytime we respond in the flesh we reinforce our soulish rule to our own destruction.

The number 7s represent completion. This year is the year to say, “enough” enough flesh, enough soul control. It’s time to yield to Spirit control, everytime, as we do the Spirit of the Lord can give us more responsibility, more power, more of Him because He can trust us in the little decisions daily, to walk in the Spirit.  We must let go of our anger, our unforgiveness, our bitterness, our idols, our over indulgences. Let go of the things that you love and embrace the things that God loves, obey Him in every detail every day and you will be transformed by His grace.  Truly that is why the 5s are cupped, they are the Lord’s hands holding you, providing that you choose to remain in His grace, if you decide to wander outside of that cup, you expose yourself to the enemy and God will allow it for your perfection because He loves you. He wants you to want Him, to stay in his hands of Grace but He won’t force you. This is the year of completion, the year of ending soulish rule, the year of Spirit surrender.  Let God hold you in His grace, through obedience to His Spirit repeatedly.

Like a child, it gets easier to walk with practice, in fact after a while you don’t have to think about it, it becomes natural, after a while you can push yourself more and more until you are able to run a marathon.  We are indeed in a great race, one with an eternal prize, run your race well.  The finish line is approaching, we are approaching the completion of the race there is no time to return to the elementary things of the Spirit. Hebrews 5:8-14 “Jesus learned obedience from the things which He suffered. And having been made perfect, He became to all those who obey Him the source of eternal salvation, being designated by God as a high priest according to the order of Melchizedek. Concerning him we have much to say, and it is hard to explain, since you have become dull of hearing. For though by this time you ought to be teachers, you have need again for someone to teach you the elementary principles of the oracles of God, and you have come to need milk and not solid food. For everyone who partakes only of milk is not accustomed to the word of righteousness, for he is an infant. But solid food is for the mature, who because of practice have their senses trained to discern good and evil.”

The darkness will get darker, you may face situations that you wish you didn’t have to go through but in the midst of it, make a make a Spirit choice, not a flesh choice.  This year is a year where all around us we will see signs of God moving as we walk in obedience to Him He will shine His Light through us and give us endless opportunities to be Light, one that those in darkness will want to follow. The Light of God shining through us will be Light of Love, Peace, Joy and bring Hope to the Lost.

When I was a child we sang a song, one sang amongst many cultures with many variants, this is the version that I learned, “This little Light of mine, I’m going to let it shine…This little Light of mine, I’m going to let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine…Don’t let Satan blow it out, I’m going to let it shine. Don’t let Satan blow it out, I’m going to let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine. Hide it under a bush, oh NO! I’m going to let it shine. Hide it under a bush, oh NO! I’m going to let it shine, let it shine, let it shine, let it shine. Shine all over Canada
( Botswana, Kenya, South Africa, America, Europe etc.)I’m going to let it shine…
Shine until Jesus comes, I’m going to let it shine…”

Let the Light of God be shed abroad in your hearts. Let God put His spotlight on those areas of your life that do not bring Him glory. Die to your flesh, don’t obey it any more, obey Him every time and you will see Him do great and wondrous things that you never thought possible, you will truly be that Light to the World and do greater works than Jesus, collectively as we as Christians stop obeying our soulish realm (mind, will, emotions) and yield every irritant, every decision to the Spirit of God. This is the day for truly implementing, WWJD in your everyday life. Jesus only did what He saw the Father do or heard the Father say…that’s what we need to do, total obedience to the Father as we walk Him, His Holy Spirit leads us and directs our steps.

Footnote: For those who are scholars and writers, the use of the referential switch is not by error but everything above is applicable to both you and me, we are truly one body and if one is affected by sin, we are all affected. Please remember to pray for our brothers and sisters everywhere that they will be strong in the Lord even in the midst of temptations, and trials. Blessings! Pastor Cathy
